Dr. Ulrich Kalex and Markus Kröger founded k2.mobility in 2023. The team combines years of experience in supply chain and logistics with expertise in operating electric commercial vehicle fleets. PANION originated in 2021 and has been continuously developed ever since.

Markus Kröger and Dr. Ulrich Kalex combine years of experience in logistics, software and e-mobility with entrepreneurial and technological expertise.

Markus Kröger has more than 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and executive in mobility, e-commerce and digital platforms. Before founding k2.mobility, he was Managing Director at ABB E-mobility Digital Venture and founder and CEO of PANION. Before that, he built and led heycar and Delivery Hero in various markets, among others.

Dr. Ulrich Kalex has years of experience in product development, software and supply chain. Before founding k2.mobility, he was Chief Product Officer at PANION. Before that, he spent around 17 years at Alfabet (Software AG), most recently as SVP Product Line Management and R&D.

Our History

Experience we build on.

2021 – PANION begins

PANION starts as ABB’s digital e-mobility venture. Together with AWS, a cloud-based solution for managing and charge-scheduling electric fleets is developed.

2022 – PANION in real fleet operations

Collaboration with the first major fleet operators begins. ASKO starts using PANION in 2022; Amazon has been working with PANION on the challenges of scaling e-fleets since late 2022.

2023 – k2.mobility founded

Markus Kröger and Dr. Ulrich Kalex found k2.mobility and continue developing PANION with the existing core team.

Today – PANION in scaling e-fleet operations

k2.mobility continues developing PANION for the daily operation of electric truck and bus fleets. Today, the platform is used by professional fleet operators across a range of use cases.

Our Conviction

Electrification changes more than the drivetrain.

With electric fleets, transport planning, vehicles, charging infrastructure and energy become interdependent. What could largely be planned separately under diesel operations now has to be continuously coordinated under electric fleet operations.

k2.mobility was founded on the conviction that this new operational complexity cannot be managed with isolated point solutions. Fleet, transport, charging and energy need to be thought through and controlled together.

We call this approach Integrated Charge Management: charging isn’t viewed in isolation, but as an integral part of day-to-day fleet and transport operations.

Running e-fleets as reliably as diesel fleets.

Electrification makes transport, vehicles, charging infrastructure and energy more interdependent. Our mission is to make this added complexity manageable in day-to-day operations – so vehicles are reliably ready when they’re needed, and fleets can scale without charging and energy becoming a bottleneck.

Integrated Charge Management is at the core of our approach: fleet, transport, charging and energy interact continuously during operations.
